The first ordinary session of the legislative year, which began on March 11, 2025, has come to a close with Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril expressing satisfaction with the tasks accomplished.
Seven bills were scrutinized and passed. Two Question Time sittings were held, ensuring the government remained accountable to the people. A seminar was organized by the Committee on Finance and Budget to educate members on accounting reforms. Forums were held on climate finance, entrepreneurship, and women’s reproductive health rights, showcasing the Assembly’s focus on pressing national issues.
As the October 2025 presidential elections approach, Speaker Cavaye Yeguie Djibril urged citizens to remain calm, serene, and patriotic. He emphasized the importance of a peaceful atmosphere for credible and fair elections. The Speaker also called on Members of the National Assembly to promote peace in their constituencies during the parliamentary recess.
The National Assembly has announced plans to christen its new Glass House as the « Paul BIYA Glass House » on April 25, 2025. A new department has been created to manage the National Assembly Complex, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this architectural marvel. With the upcoming presidential elections and the new legislative year, the National Assembly is poised to continue its work in shaping Cameroon’s future.
