Secretary General of the CPDM, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cameroon and Personal Representative of the Head of State, Jean Nkuete has described, Fon Angwafo III as a representation of the past, present and future of the CPDM.
Fon Angwafo III who was traditional ruler of the Mankon people for 63 years and First National Vice President of the CPDM disappeared at 97 on his birthday, May 21, 2022.
Decorated posthumously to the rank of Grand Cordon in the Cameroon National Order of Merit during an event in Bamenda to pay him tributes known in the Mankon language as the “Nukwi Ni Abubte”, SG Nkuete qualified the traditional ruler and Vice President of the Party for 37 years as an epitome of peace and the face of a united Cameroon.
The class and representation accorded the event which debuted on December 25 to run till January 15, 2023 was reflective of the honorable role played by departed Fon to the sustained growth and indivisibility of the nation, Cameroon. This was marked by placement of a wreath in his honor from the Presidential couple while he was decorated and honored with the national colors.
The statesman who spent all his days in his Mankon palace during the troubled days of the Anglophone crisis in its sixth year now is remembered for his resilience, love for truth, family and an unquenchable thirst for education and development seen through the multiple donations of lands for the construction of educational structures, hospitals and churches, tributes poured.
In the message of the Central Committee presented by the Head of the North West Regional Delegation of the CPDM to the Central Committee, Philemon Yang, it was revealed that Fon Angwafo III was among the most loyal party militants, consistent in his stance and steadfast in his believe.
“He believed in unity, he always believed in unity, he never opened the door to anything like secession. He remained a great militant, a great Cameroonian and somebody who was giving a message which was true yesterday, true today and will be true tomorrow,” Philemon Yang said emphatically.
The ceremony which witnessed the tributes of the Presidential Couple read out by North West Governor, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique was also an occasion for the first official outing of Fon Angwafo IV, successor of the missed Fon, Angwafo III, officially marking the beginning of a new reign.
